Studio Opaque² is an architectural and interior design practice founded in 2022 by Maria Louiza Biri and Yana Kay.
Working across architecture, interiors, hospitality, yachting and objects, the studio approaches each project as an opportunity to create a distinct spatial and sensory experience. Our work is driven by curiosity, materiality and a close reading of context, seeking to reveal the character of a space through its atmosphere, proportions, textures and details.
At the heart of our practice is the belief that design is experienced before it is understood. We are interested in how spaces make us feel, how materials age and change, how light moves through a room, and how seemingly subtle gestures can influence the way we inhabit a place. Rather than following a fixed aesthetic language, we develop each project from its own narrative, context and inherent possibilities.
Our portfolio encompasses residential and commercial restorations and renovations, hospitality environments, yacht refits and bespoke objects, with projects ranging in scale and character. Whether working with an existing structure, a new interior or a singular object, we approach every commission with the same attention to detail and commitment to its individual identity.
We welcome projects of all scales and locations, and collaborations that invite new ways of thinking about space, material and experience!
